Ingredients:

  • Bread flour / all-purpose flour – 3 cups

  • Warm water – 1¼ cups

  • Instant yeast – 1 teaspoon

  • Salt – 1½ teaspoons

  • Sugar – 1 teaspoon

  • Olive oil or vegetable oil – 1 tablespoon

  • White sesame seeds – ½ cup (for coating)


Instructions:

1️⃣ Make the Dough

  1. In a bowl, mix warm water, yeast, and sugar.

  2. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.

  3. Add flour, salt, and oil.

  4. Mix and knead until you get a soft, slightly sticky dough (about 8–10 minutes).


2️⃣ First Rise

  • Lightly oil a bowl and place the dough inside.

  • Cover and let rise for 1½–2 hours, or until doubled in size.


3️⃣ Shape the Bread

  1. Gently deflate the dough.

  2. Shape into oval or round loaves.

  3. Lightly brush or spray water on the outside and roll in sesame seeds.


4️⃣ Second Rise

  • Place on a baking tray or parchment paper.

  • Cover and rest for 30–45 minutes.


5️⃣ Bake

  1. Preheat oven to 230°C / 450°F.

  2. Score the top with a sharp blade.

  3. Place a small tray of hot water in the oven for steam.

  4. Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown and crusty.


Tips 🔥

  • Cool on a wire rack for the best crispy crust.

  • For extra flavor, let the dough rise slowly in the refrigerator overnight.
