🧾 Ingredients

  • 4–5 medium potatoes

  • 250–300 g meatballs (beef or chicken)

  • 1½ cups cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or gruyère)

  • 1 cup fresh cream or milk

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 1 small onion (optional, sliced)

  • 2 cloves garlic (optional)

  • Salt to taste

  • Black pepper to taste

  • ½ tsp Italian herbs or dried thyme

  • ½ tsp paprika or chili flakes (optional)


👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Boil the potatoes

    • Peel potatoes and boil in salted water until just tender.

    • Drain and slice into round pieces.

  2. Cook the meatballs

    • Pan-fry meatballs with a little oil until golden brown.

    • Add onion and garlic if using. Cook until soft.

  3. Prepare baking dish

    • Grease a baking dish with butter.

  4. Layer the dish

    • First layer: sliced potatoes

    • Second layer: meatballs

    • Sprinkle salt, pepper, herbs

    • Add cheese

    • Repeat layers if needed

  5. Add cream

    • Pour cream or milk evenly over the dish.

  6. Bake

    • Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 25–30 minutes

    • Until cheese is melted and golden on top.

  7. Rest & serve

    • Let it rest 5 minutes before serving.
